The Nature Trust of New Brunswick is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving private lands and educating the public about the value of preserving the biodiversity and special natural heritage of our province. We have protected more than 12,000 acres (4,860 hectares) of environmentally important land in more than 79 stunning and varied nature preserves around the province since 1987. The province of New Brunswick is abundant, with beautiful landscapes and a variety of forest, coastal, and waterway habitats. In New Brunswick, we safeguard extraordinary, pristine natural areas, some of which are home to rare and endangered plant and animal species. The Nature Trust's mission is to manage these areas while protecting native species, biodiversity, and healthy ecosystems.
To safeguard New Brunswick's natural places, we collaborate with people, landowners, neighborhood associations, nonprofit organizations, indigenous groups, companies, and government agencies on all levels. We create and maintain nature preserves through contributions of land, purchases, conservation easement contracts, and other legal rights to land. We make sure that these areas are conserved by acquiring conservation lands and collaborating with our communities, funders, and volunteers to promote responsible stewardship. This implies that residents of New Brunswick have access to parks and hiking trails, the chance to get away and reconnect with nature, and the chance to pass on their knowledge of the value of the natural world to the next generation.
Here are a few ways to get directly involved:
Boundary Monitoring
The Nature Trust maintains the boundaries of our nature preserves for a number of purposes, such as to avoid property boundary disputes and to stop theft and trespassing of timber. Throughout the spring and summer, volunteer stewards from all throughout the province monitor nature preserves.
Trail Monitoring and Maintenance Volunteers
We are asking for volunteers to take a stroll along our trails and let us know how they feel and if any upkeep is required. We need volunteers to assist us in maintaining our trails, which includes cutting branches and foliage off the paths, picking up trash, and maintaining trail markers and signage.
Community Stewardship Group Leaders and Volunteers
Do you want to get engaged with the Nature Trust in your neighborhood? Throughout the province, we are creating stewardship organizations for our nature preserves, and we are seeking people to act as devoted stewards in their local communities.
Photography and Videography
Do you enjoy taking pictures and making videos of nature? We adore including pictures of wildlife, nature preserves, and stewardship or engagement events taken by our supporters in our social media and communications pieces.
